November 12, 2019 | HereEast Innovation Centre (Plexal.com)
At 16:00, join us for a Break and Book Signing! At the XebiaLabs stand, authors Matthew Skelton and Manuel Pais will be signing 50 (free) copies of their book “Team Topologies: Organizing Business and Technology Teams for Fast Flow.” Get there quick before we run out!
As DevOps has become more mainstream, and as the drive for agile delivery of software is accepted (at least in principle), we need to level up from our collective comfort zone. As techies we tend to solve the problem in front of our face. How does my team/squad/scrum deliver our output faster and with higher quality?
As Engineers we need to be thinking: How does our organization deliver value to our customers efficiently and with less risk? How do we prove that we have this under control? In this talk, Rob Vanstone gives an overview of the problems we face when we try and scale best practice, alongside solutions that allow this to work. Rob will dig into advanced release patterns and show how everything can be done while still allowing for time to satisfy the scrutiny that governance and compliance demands.

10 Attributes of the DevSecOps Elite with DJ Schleen, Sonatype
Sonatype has spent six years studying secure coding practices of DevOps and Continuous Delivery organizations by surveying over 15,000 IT professionals. Sonatype analyzed their staffing practices, educational priorities, automation choices, and process improvements that improve cybersecurity preparedness. The study also uncovered details of where automation fails, where awareness falls short, and where breaches happen. Come participate in this session where DJ Schleen will share the 10 habits practiced by the DevSecOps Elite that you can apply to – or further mature within – your own organization.
ABN AMRO’s Journey Toward DevOps with Allan Tony Selvan, ABN AMRO Bank
DevOps comes with a set of principles and capabilities that are not easy to implement. To truly embrace DevOps, an organization needs to make adjustments in the way the processes between development and operations are performed. During this talk, Allan Tony Selvan will give you some interesting insights on the DevOps journey of one of the biggest Dutch banks and share with you how his team transformed from an Ops-only team to a DevOps team.
Is Data Friction Putting a Crimp in Your CI/CD Flow? with Adam Bowen, Delphix
The end goal of establishing a CI/CD pipeline is to achieve a continuous “flow” of releases as new features get built, integrated, tested, and deployed to production-like non-prod environments, and eventually to production. This flow depends upon the Continuous Integration and Delivery of small batches of code, data schema, and environment changes. Data friction results in the inability to have the right data being provisioned to the right non-prod environment, when it is needed by the right practitioner, causing the flow to be interrupted or slowed. Data friction, in turn, is caused due to the time and cost it takes to provision test data sets to multiple development and test environments in a secure, compliant manner. Practitioners who manage and those who secure data need to be brought into the cross-functional teams of those who need data, eliminating these “silos” and extending DevOps practices into the data realm.
This session will go into client tested and proven methods and practices to address data friction in the CI/CD pipeline, and show how to bring secure, compliant data, on-demand to practitioners and achieve CI/CD flow.
