It’s good to be back at the DevOps Enterprise Summit! This time, we are in Las Vegas for the second installment of the year’s premier DevOps conference, hosted by Gene Kim and IT Revolution. The XebiaLabs team hit the show floor to take in the first day of the event, hear about emerging DevOps trends and methods from the show’s featured speakers, and listen to real-world implementation stories from the over 1,500 tech pros in attendance.
Here are some of the happenings from day one of DOES 2018 in Sin City!
It was a packed house in anticipation of Gene Kim hitting the stage for opening remarks. Kim delivered, giving the audience some food for thought by offering up his own definition of DevOps.
Nike’s Chief Privacy Officer, Ann Bradley, and Courtney Kissler, Vice President of Nike Digital Platform Engineering, coached up the crowd on the virtues of team building.
TaskTop CEO Mik Kersten talked to the DOES crowd about the value stream.
Kevin Drake of Lincoln Financial Group, a XebiaLabs customer, and Lisa Wells, Vice President of Product Marketing for XebiaLabs, hit the DOES stage to present “Bridging the DevOps Chasm at Lincoln Financial Group.“
Another XebiaLabs customer, Mark Howell, DevOps Lead at Lloyds Banking Group, left attendees with some parting words of wisdom.
There was plenty of action at the XebiaLabs booth, as the team talked shop with attendees and gave away copies of the newly revamped The IT Manager’s Guide to DevOps.
After gracing the DOES stage, Lincoln Financial Group’s Kevin Drake and XebiaLabs’ Lisa Wells took a ride on the XL Bus.
XebiaLabs team members Chris Colosimo, John Quezada, and Patrick Bishop hold down the show floor fort.
Attendees unwind at the Industry Party hosted by Delphix.
The real fun began at the “Taste of Spain” cocktail party at Jaleo in the Cosmopolitan hotel. In addition to music and cocktails, party goers got to dine on traditional Spanish cuisine from famed chef José Andrés.
The party, co-hosted with Delphix and Datical, comes on the heels of an announcement made earlier in the day that the three companies are partnering on a unified solution to address the core aspects of the enterprise DevOps process.

XebiaLabs’ Richard Nuñez and Patrick Bishop talk strategy for day two.
Don’t forget to stop by the XebiaLabs booth
Come see us at booth #313! We have a lot going on:
- Get an advance copy of the new IT Manager’s Guide to DevOps. Written by Tim Buntel and the late Robert Stroud, this book offers essential insight on how to drive the business value of software delivery.
- Pick up a poster of our Periodic Table of DevOps Tools to hang in your office.
- For every badge scanned, we are donating $2 to Technovation, a non-profit that offers girls around the world the opportunity to learn the skills they need to emerge as tech entrepreneurs and leaders. You can also contribute here.
- See a demo of the XebiaLabs DevOps Platform.
Stay tuned for our event recap on the key themes we noticed throughout the keynotes and breakout sessions.
